Presentation Nerves!

After following my own guidelines I finally completed my own presentation!
What seemed like a straight forward presentation caused me nothing but stress!

I completed my presentation correctly and included everything necessary, but still I couldn't help but worry whether it would actually work on the day and if I could actually present the presentation!
I turned up to college ready to go, but unfortunately my nerves started well before the presentation and for 3 hours prior o the event I felt sick in my stomach.
As I entered the presentation room I started to shake and I became very hot!
When I finally started my presentation it appeared to go well, but my skin turned a very bright red colour and this just embarrassed me even more.
So todays blog is going to look at how we present our presentations and how to stop the nerves!
This is what I found:

1. Identify and accept any life situations that are causing negative feelings
    (remedy them if possible).

Identify any situation in life that is causing unnecessary stress and unhappiness regularly. And, very importantly, accept that this is the reason for the increased nervousness. This acceptance and giving a reason for our nervousness is crucial and reduces much of its power.

Wherever possible, action should be taken to remove negative situations from our life or to reduce the effect they have on us.

2. Relaxation.

Relaxation is the physiological opposite of tension; a relaxed muscle cannot be tense / anxious. Find a relaxation technique that is comfortable and effective and practice it regularly. (The 'Progressive Muscle Relaxation' technique developed by Jacobsen in the 1930's remains one of the most successful methods available).

3. Exercise.

Endorphins (natural morphine-like chemicals) released by the body during exercise to combat the stress of the exercise help to alleviate all stress. Physical exercise also provides a release for pent-up nervous energy and numerous studies show exercise to be better than anti-depressants at alleviating (not curing) depression.   (Ref.1)

Develop an exercise regime appropriate to age, fitness levels and health (consult medical and fitness professional before starting any exercise regime) and, again, do it regularly.

Doing the above three things can help to reduce and remedy any short-term nervousness and anxiety problems.

I'm certainly going to try these, maybe they'll help you too!
